Dale started taking piano lessons at age 8 and, at 11, began playing organ in several churches for the next 60 years. He accompanied school choruses and orchestras on the piano through high school and then obtained Bachelor and Masters degrees in Music Education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He taught elementary band instruments for 30 years in the public schools. Dale also played organ for dinner music, weddings and at a roller-skating rink. Presently he is the pianist/assistant director of the Shriners Male Chorus and organist at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Lower Burrell. He has been teaching piano and organ for 50 years.
